Duke of Edinburgh Award

Manor Green College has supported almost 90 youngsters through the bronze award since we began in 2015. We are now in the 4th year of running the silver award supporting 17 youngsters to achieve a this award. 2020 would have seen a further 9 youngsters complete a silver expedition had the virus not have struck and brought everything to a standstill.

We now have an amazing group of 7 youngsters working towards their gold award. Some of the youngsters have returned to the college to take part in or complete awards started before they left us.

Since returning in September the Bronze group of 2020 have now completed their expedition and, at time of writing, 8 of them are currently awaiting their certificate of completion and badge.

This year we have a staggering 28 youngsters signed up to the bronze award in KS4! Up to now the largest group was 16! We also have 6 now signed up to complete their Silver award this academic year.

2020 has been challenging for us all and has brought a few changes with it for the DofE groups. Sadly we are unable to stay away overnight but all the other aspects of the expedition remain the same. Youngsters learn the importance of team work and pick up many new skills along the DofE journey. Sections can now be achieved from home and school and are assessed easily by the DofE staff team.

The DofE is achievable by all those who wish to take part, all barriers can be overcome and adapted with a little imagination by our fantastic staff team.
